Yesterday was Bishkek, Kyrgzystan's, 131st birthday since it's founding by the Russians in 1878. I lived in Bishkek for four months when I worked with the American Councils for International Education in late 1999. Bishkek is a very interesting place to live in. When I was a kid, my favorite battleship was the Yamato, which served the Imperial Japanese Navy in World War 2.  Many young Americans my age group may know the Yamato from the cartoon, Star Blazers.  Since I was able to visit my Japanese relatives on many occassions as a child, I was able to get the real Yamato, and her sister ship, Musashi, models to bring back to the US.   … [Read more...] about YAMATO – World’s Largest & Greatest Battleship Ever Built
