As a kid, I had always wanted to be a fighter pilot. the closest I ever got was when I was a Flight Equipment Marine with the US Marine Corps Reserves. The picture below was taken in summer of 1991 at the Naval Air Station Memphis’s Parachute Rigger School located at the time in Millington, Tennessee. Part of the course involved learning how to inspect and repair the pilot’s flights suit and safety gear. Towards the last part of the course we were allowed to wear all of the pilot’s gear and take photos in the F-4 Phantom II mockups. Below is my photo.
