A long ways from the troubles of Bishkek and Osh, Talas is separated from most of the country by a highway that ran through Kazakhstan. Most people had to go by nearby Taraz, Kazakhstan, for their main shopping. Osh has a large population of devout Uzbek Muslims. I have no qualms telling people that Osh is one of my favorite cities in the world. It has this feeling that draws people to it.
