According to Tuoi Tre News, Yahoo will shutdown the successor to it’s Yahoo 360 blogging platform, Yahoo Blog Vietnam, aka Yahoo 360+). Yahoo 360 was shutdown back in 2009 and since Facebook has been one of the most popular sites for many Vietnamese online users. In 2009, I thought the move was rather stupid since many Vietnamese loved Yahoo 360. I even met some of my Vietnamese friends through Yahoo 360 which I felt was more personal as a social media site then Facebook is today.
Yahoo had a strong influence in Vietnam during my early days here (2004 onward). It is gone now. Many users are not even register new emails with Yahoo mail anymore. Google got that market now.
