Osh has a large population of devout Uzbek Muslims. I have no qualms telling people that Osh is one of my favorite cities in the world. It has this feeling that draws people to it. The people are nice, the food is good, the culture is amazing. With Islam, both the Kyrgyz and Uzbek people should be peaceful neighbors but in two occasions, this did not happen. Last year saw one of the most worst violence between the two ethnic groups. It should not have happened, many mosques were being built in Osh when I visited there in 1999.
They are Muslims, they are brothers and sisters.
