A couple days ago, EVN, went down the alleyway to move one of their power lines to the next utility pole. Along the way, they literally ripped out the telephone and ADSL lines that were blocking ‘their’ power line. FPT, my local ISP, came to my house today and put in a new line. I passed on about 100,000 ($6.00 US) VND to the two workers though my friend told me that I just needed to pay them 50,000 VND ($3.00 US). As usual, my friend Vinh, who used to work for FPT, helped me out in resolving this minor problem.
(Not related but he is not wearing any protective harness to paint Mr. Ut’s house)
(EVN worker walking by and yes, the power line is nearly touching my bike)
(Neighbors were not particularly happy with EVN on this day since telephone and ADSL lines were broken after they came through)
(FPT worker putting in a new ADSL line for me where it was ripped)
(Unfortunately, they put the new line on the utility pole that will be removed next month)
