My grandma (not actually related to me but took care of me growing up) lived in Kazakhstan for a few months while her son was there working for the Indian embassy. Aren’t they known for their apples? Seems like a fascinating place.
Yeah, good apples in Kazakhstan. Alma-ata, the old name of Almaty, is translated into ‘Grandfather of Apples.’ The newest name just means ‘City of Apples’ now.
Beautiful country and I can’t wait to return early next year for a visit.
