Du Mien Cafe – Too Loud

Thursday, May 1, 2008 By kevmille

Du Mien Cafe, located in the Phu Nhuan District, used to be one of my favorite cafes to sit and relax with friends. It was quiet, music volume was low, it generally was a very peaceful place. I used to visit Du Mien at least once or twice a week.

Now, Du Mien is like many of the other local coffee shops. The volume of music was quite high. The noise from the conversations made it difficult to speak to the person you came with. At one point, we asked the waiter to find us a quiet area so my friend and I could have a meeting. He could not find one. We ended up leaving for a quieter coffee shop.

Saigon is sure changing so fast 🙁

(The table in the corner was so loud that I could not hear my friend opposite of me)

i went to Du Mien couple of times, it was oke, u should try the “Khong gian rieng” (private space) on Hoang Van Thu st, near Le Van Sy, its not located on the main street, make a rite turn to the small street oppsite of HVThu park, turn rite at the 1st crossroad. its on the right hand side. Pretty cool, they have piano and violin at 8 or 9pm everynite. Give it a try!

Hi, my first time visiting your blog.

Agreed. I hate noise, too. Although I’m Vietnamese, I can’t understand why people play loud music everywhere, in supermarkets, shops, even in bookstores. Obviously people don’t go there for music.

Music in cafes is understandable but I prefer soft music anyway.
