Well, I knew this was going to happen even before I left for Vietnam. Jon took off on a flight back to the US. He will be gone for about 6 weeks to 2 months. Well, week 2 in Saigon has been a little more difficult than week 1. Last week I only got around 4-5 hours of sleep. I have not slept through a night without waking up. It is loud outside all night. Essentially, it does not really get quiet outside until about 1:30 AM in the morning but most people seem to wake up at around 4 AM. Last night the Director of Operations for an Amerasian organization and I headed out of Saigon to an English school. It was a long trip to take on a motorscooter (about one hour). On the way back, she dropped me off at her parents to say goodbye to her Vietnamese-Canadian friend. We arrived into Saigon later that night. For dinner, she bought Pho. Wow, it was awesome. I can’t say Ngoc!!!
Okay, last night this English teacher kept trying to get me to pronounce her name, Ngoc. I could not. It was so difficult. I finally gave up and called her by an alternative name.
