This was a surprise trip that I made in late December, 2001. A Turkish dentist, Osman, I had met in Pennsylvania at Fetullah Gulen’s Compound before leaving for Turkey invited me to his city, Alanya, located on the Mediterranean Sea. I almost did not take the trip but I am glad that I did. I needed to escape the snowy weather Istanbul was having at the time. Boy am I glad I took the trip.
Osman gave me a good weekend tour of Antalya, Manavgat and then Alanya. I have many pictures still from this trip with many stories. The below photo is one of my favorite. I was at the top of an ancient mosque which gave me one of the best views of Alanya.
