Thanks to Pratik, I found a good replacement coffee shop for Java Cafe that is near where I live in Saigon. The Tibetan Coffee Shop, located on 28/11A Ton That Tung Street in District 1, is now one of my favorite coffee shops. It is located in an alleyway not far from Pham Ngu Lao and is one of the few quiet coffee shops I have ever found in the city.
As the name suggests, this coffee shop as a Tibetan theme that includes the decor and menu with some nice Buddhist music playing in the background. If you need to work for long hours, this is a place to do it. I stayed for about 5 hours and did not see many people coming in and out until the evening. Those that were there were very quiet.
The prices are quite good for the location as well. I ordered a mushroom omelette that I really liked. They also offer an assortment of mixed shakes (sinh to) and other drinks as well. I paid about 45,000 VND for this dish.
For those interested in the decor, you can actually purchase the items from the coffee shop. Just speak with the staff.
This is a great quiet coffee shop.
