Quan Am (Kannon in Japanese), is known as the Goddess of Mercy. She is also the protector of my animal sign, Nezumi (Mouse/Rat in Japanese). I have a shrine in my house dedicated to Quan Am who I pray to every morning and evening. Quan Am is a very important figure in Vietnam and my mother’s homeland, Japan.

Hi, Kevin!!
Did you unilaterally select Quan Am as your protector (against traffic hazards in VN)? In any event, it’s a commendable choice. I bumped into your blog from another blog, Vietnam God (nice bout of humility there). I came from VN in 1975, and now lives in TX. I have been back to VN a few times, but the pollution and street noise can be very uncomfortable. How can you tolerate pollution is Saigon?
I wish you well, and keep on blogging.

You know, I had no idea who Quan Am was when I came to Vietnam. I have a lot of stories to tell about her but I do not want to mention it in my blog. I can send an email if you like. Quan Am means everything to me at this point of my life…

Hi Kevin,
Nice blog you have here. I am interested in learning more about your encounter with Quan The Am. She’s a very well-known Boddhisattva to most of us Vietnamese due to her compassionate nature. Can you send me an email to let me know how you came to know her?
Thanks!
And keep up the good work in your blogging…
Peace! 🙂
