Missing the nice walks along the canal – Phu Nhuan District

Sunday, November 30, 2008 By kevmille

Just a little over a month until my lease ends.  I am reminiscing about two years ago when I was able to take a walk along the canal near my house with my dog, Lucky.  Saigon’s rapid development has taken much of the beauty of my area away but it is only for a short time.

Before

Now

Wow, now I know you live close to my stomping ground when I was growing up in the 70s. They took the old house and converted it into three today, and the road is narrower, but i do remember a little, definitely the smelly canal.
Are you still there as of march today? or have you moved due to flooding/ vandalism?

The canal does not smell as bad now. In a couple years, the smell should be gone. This will be a great place to live and visit a coffee shop at. I hope they close some of the traffic to keep it quiet.
