Fastest Wifi Coffeeshop – Java

Sunday, May 4, 2008 By kevmille

Amazing, I am at Java Cafe on the corner of Hai Ba Trung and Dong Du in District 1. I just tested the bandwidth here with Speakeasy. 4418 kbps Downloads, 473 kbps Uploads. This is the fastest internet bandwidth I have tested in Saigon yet!!!

I am at the Java coffee shop now. NO JOY! I tested with speakeasy via DSL reports and only got 376 kpbs down. Tested several different speed test all with the same result. I was so excited too. Oh well my Fiber line gets a consistent 500 kbps down and 400 up – 24 hrs a day without any substantial drops in bandwidth.

Yeah, seems about right since most of the people are back in the city now. My bandwidth at home dropped a lot.

Oh Yon, that is horrible speeds for a fiber optic line. Complain about that. How much do you pay for it?

I pay 427 USD for fiber. In gets 12 mps in VN and 524 kpbs minimum in international bandwidth. Only other option is a leased line, for 19,000 USD a year.

Wow, not really worth the cost as I mentioned again, eh?
