Saigon Gyms for Weightlifters (and Powerlifters)
My choice for gyms in Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City), Vietnam, for weightlifters (and powerlifters). You do can do the Olympic Lifts at these gyms.

Edited on: May 30, 2022.
I decided it was time to edit my old weightlifting gym article at SaigonNezumi.com. Things have changed after the long lockdown closed many gyms in Saigon a year ago. Oddly enough, there are more options for weightlifters in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, now than when I returned to the city in 2017.
My workouts include the classical Olympic Weightlifting (Olympic Lifts) exercises. Hence, I need a gym that will allow me to drop weights. Most gyms will not give that option.
In this article, I will list the gyms that have Olympic (and Powerlifting) bars and areas where you can lift. These gyms will be attended by weightlifters and powerlifters. I am excluding Crossfit gyms since there are enough gyms for weightlifters now.
I will list the gym where I work out at first, followed by other gyms (including those I have not worked out at). There are several private gyms as well for powerlifters. I will post them in a later update.
P Fitness Gym (District 11)

After the lockdown ended, I needed to find a new gym since Evo Strength + Fitness closed. Distance wise, P Fitness was about the same distance away.
For weightlifters and powerlifters, there is a lifting platform with a portable squat rack. The lifting platform also has Olympic Lifting plates, allowing you to drop the weights after each clean or snatch. Oddly enough, I have not worked out on the lifting platform yet. I prefer to work out in my corner squat rack area until my cleans get back to normal.
I workout in the mornings. There are many fans but not air conditioner so make sure you drink a lot of fluids.

AM GYM - Absolute Muscle Gym (Thu Duc City)

A gym recommended by a powerlifter I used to workout with. It is located in Thu Duc City. You can do Olympic Weightlifting exercises here. You may need to use the power racks. Just ask the managers there for assistance.

Freedom Gym (Binh Thanh District)

Freedom Gym has a unique model for members. There are no managers so members are given a key. It is more suited for light weight technical workouts. I plan to workout here eventually.

B2B Boxing Center (District 10)

I saw this gym posted at Coach Hao's Facebook. Seems to be an area for Olympic Weightlifting. Makes sense, boxers need the Olympic Lifts to build their core muscles.

Phu Tho Stadium with Coach Hoa (District 11)

Strangely, I have not worked out at this location where the Vietnamese national weightlifting team works out under Coach Hoa. I plan to visit this gym next week. I have been told that there are classes offered in the evenings as well.
This weightlifting facility is located at Phu Tho Stadium near Dem Sen Park in District 12.
