Celebrating Sharp’s 100th Anniversary in Vietnam

It is hard to imagine that Japanese-owned, Sharp, is now celebrating its 100th year Anniversary. As one of the prominent bloggers in Saigon, I have been asked to write about my memories about Sharp.

I have used Sharp off and on since I first entered university back in 1991 over two decades ago.  I remember my first 13 inch TV set I purchased for my dorm room was a Sharp.  I kept if for a couple years before replacing it with a 20 inch Sharp television set.  I remember for the 1990s, the picture quality of Sharp television sets were pretty good.  They were also very sturdy to move around (more…)

Last Saturday, my business partners from Protekus Security Solutions and I headed for a day business trip to the Vinh Long Province.  We somehow found ourself in Can Tho before heading back to Saigon in the last afternoon.  On our way back, Protekus’s partner, 007 Professional Security also as known as KKB, called us and asked us to stop by Phu To Stadium in District 11.  We were a bit reluctant but ended up going to Phu To Stadium.  A good thing too, (more…)

I have meaning to blog about Oh My Pet pet store for some time now.  This is where I buy my cat food for Hoshi and get other cat supplies.  This pet shop was recommend by my vet, Y, and other Expats.  The owner is a Viet Kieu that offers pet supplies for most pets.  I have visited them several times over the last 3 years. Typhoon Pakhar

According to the Joint Typhoon Warning Center’s forecast as of 10:00 Hanoi time, Friday, March 30, Pakhar is now forecast to track west northwest, with the model indicating that Pakhar will make landfall near Phan Thiet around 20:00 Hanoi time on Saturday, March 31as a Category 1 Typhoon with maximum sustained winds of 65 knots (75 mph).  Pakhar is then forecast to weaken to Tropical Storm strength after passing across southern Vietnam and into Cambodia.
